Enhancing Wastewater and Environmental Surveillance Capacity for Antimicrobial Resistance in Thailand (DGHP-Hub-WWES)

Overview

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most pressing public health challenges worldwide, threatening the effectiveness of medicines used to treat bacterial infections. Wastewater and environmental surveillance can provide valuable information on the presence and distribution of AMR in communities.

The DGHP-Hub-WWES dashboard presents data from five Wastewater and Environmental Surveillance (WES) sites in Thailand. It provides an overview of AMR patterns in wastewater and helps monitor changes over time, supporting a better understanding of environmental AMR and its implications for public health.

The dashboard highlights two key indicators:

1. AMR Load

The estimated amount of antimicrobial resistance (ESBL-producing Escherichia coli) detected in wastewater. This indicator provides an overview of the level of AMR detected at each surveillance site and how it changes over time.

2. AMR Profiles

The types and patterns of antimicrobial resistance detected in wastewater, including resistance to major antibiotic classes such as beta-lactams. The dashboard allows users to explore the different resistance types.
